ICT Elite Camp -[Nov 1 – 12, 2004]

ICT took on an international feel in Chinese Taipei, November, as 12 policy makers from six different APEC economies made their way over for an Information, Communication & Technology (ICT) training camp.

Participants joined the program to enhance their understanding of the planning and implementation behind e-Trade, e-Government and e-Society. A comprehensive series of over 30 lectures, presentations and workshops were delivered by leading experts from government, academia, and the private sector.

Participants were also able to take a quick tour of the local ICT sights. A visit to Nankang enabled them to see some of Taipei’s leading software companies at Taipei’s Software Incubation Park. A stop off at some local government agencies allowed the participants to view firsthand, a series of successfully implemented e-Government programs.

The camp proved productive as policy makers worked together and drafted three proposals on e-Procurement, e-Training, and e- Government. Proposals were taken back by each participant for appraisal.

The ICT Elite camp is part of the APEC Digital Opportunity Center Program (ADOC), which aims to enhance ICT capabilities within the APEC member economies to enable them to join and benefit from the New Economy.

A second ICT Elite Camp is planned for 2005.
